7 Monkeys is indeed a monkey themed game, but weirdly enough, there are only 6 monkeys among its symbols. The number 7 is visible in a couple of areas, from the number of symbols to the number of lines, but other than that you’re still looking at a jungle and monkey themed slot machine. It comes from Pragmatic Play. 7 Monkeys is a very well made game, and it offers a low number of symbols, so forming combinations shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m not that excited about its top payouts, though, which go only up to $7,500 (1,500x). You get some help from the wild and scatter symbols, the latter being responsible for the start of the free spins which can have multipliers. You only get 7 lines on 5 reels, so the slot stays true to its name once again.
This is the sort of game where you’re using fixed lines, 7 of them total, but where you can modify the number of coins and their value as you see fit. You may have a maximum of 10 coins on each line, with the value going to $0.50 at most. You can spend up to $5 for one line this way, with the total bet being at $35 in that case.
With six symbols sporting monkeys on the reels, there is no question about the theme that the game approaches. You have the monkeys on the reels, with big trees covered by moss and vines to the sides, plus branches surrounding the game area at the top and bottom. It’s a very nature themed image, which I think works well for it. The slot uses round pictures of the monkeys, and the creatures cover the entire circle area, so it’s an unusual look for them. The seventh symbol used is going to have a bunch of bananas in it. The monkeys come in yellow, green, blue, orange, pink or multi-colored (the wild monkey). Pragmatic Play did a good job here, so even if you don’t like simple games, with few lines, you’re still going to have fun with the graphics. The monkey theme is not a new topic for a slot machine, but I guarantee you that you haven’t seen any slot machine to do it quite this way before.
On the feature front, you’re going to discover things in this slot machine which most games will offer. Wild symbols, scatters and free spins are all present. They chose the Baboon symbol, which comes multi-colored, to act as a wild feature. You can use the Baboons as replacements whenever you land them in the correct positions, on the active lines. The rest of the required symbols for a combo need to land there as well, for the Baboon Wild to be able to help out with the missing one. Wilds are not expected to be able to replace scatters in most games, and they can’t do that here either. There are possible situations where you will land three to five Baboons starting from the left on the same line, and if that happens, they form combinations directly, paying 1,500x, or up to $7,500. Based on what it promises you, I’d say that the scatter symbol is even more desirable to get in this game. It’s the one showing you the bananas, the only symbol not to show a monkey. Being a scatter, it is only important how many symbols are visible at the same time, not their position. They don’t need to be on the same line together, and they just need to be in three or more symbols. With three Banana scatters you get 50 free spins. If you get four scattered Bananas, then you receive 100 free spins, with multipliers for all wins at 2x. The maximum number of Banana scatters, five, will trigger a huge number of free spins, 150 of them, plus 3x multipliers for the wins. This is the point where you’re starting to regret that the game has only 7 lines, and so doesn’t offer as many wins as you would want.
You’re going to find the 1,500x jackpot to be on the low side, but at least you have the option to triple it during the free spins. Instead of a payout of $7,500, which is what you get during paid spins, you could be getting up to $22,500. Unfortunately, from what I could find about it, the game has a pretty low average RTP. It’s apparently at 92.71%, which makes it one of the less profitable games that Pragmatic Play offers. They have some titles that go over 96%, so I’d suggest you check out their other games.
If it weren't for that low average RTP, I would recommend 7 Monkeys because of the quality of its design and the huge number of free spins with multipliers that you can trigger, if you’re lucky. As it stands, though, I’d say that there are better options for you out there.
